What Are DERMAL FILLERS?
Dermal Fillers can be used to treat a range of skin concerns such as lack of volume and help to fill in facial wrinkles, restoring a smoother appearance.
Fillers use Hyaluronic acid, a substance we produce naturally in our bodies to maintain healthy skin. Over time, production of hyaluronic acid declines, leading to an increased number of fine lines and wrinkles and loss of volume.
The following can be treated with dermal fillers: ‘Crows feet’ at the corner of the eyes, ‘Frown lines’ between the eyebrows, ‘Smokers lines’ which are vertical lines on the top lip, ‘Marionette lines’ at the corner of the mouth, ‘Worry lines’ which run across the forehead and the definition of the lip border.
As well as treating lines, dermal fillers are used to replace lost volume in cheeks, restore dark circles, plump lips and sculpt the face.

Dermal Fillers can last 6 to 18 months. Results are immediate after treatment, but the most common side effects occur within 24 hours post-treatment. These include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness. Immediate side effects usually disappear within days. However, depending on the type of dermal filler used and your body's response, it can take a few weeks. on text goes here

Swelling and bruising are common side effects of lip filler, but such complaints are temporary and should subside in the days following the treatment. In severe cases, swelling can last 10 -14 days. Full risks will be discussed on the day of treatment and include vascular occlusion- which is rare.
At Mel Berry Aesthetics all treatments are carried out by a fully-trained cosmetic injector. The filler we use in these procedures is the premium product for this treatment with a well-established safety record.

Dermal filler is not suitable for anyone with severe allergies. You should not have dermal fillers of any kind if you are pregnant or breastfeeding - we do not treat clients who are under 18 years. This procedure will only be performed after a face-to-face consultation, during which a full assessment will be carried out and a full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

Dermal Fillers feel like a slight pinch, and you may experience slight pressure or a ‘stinging’ sensation as the product is being injected. Everyone experiences pain differently and has different pain thresholds. A topical anaesthetic can be used to minimise the pain.

The dermal filler we use will dissolve itself within 6 - 18 months. Although this may vary depending on individual factors. The dermal filler we use is also dissolvable using hyalase if required.

Apply a cool compress to the treatment area (do not apply ice directly to the skin) for 10 minutes every half an hour on the day of treatment.
Avoid any heat-inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas and hot showers.
Avoid pressure on the area for the first 48 hours (sleep on your back if possible, no face-down massages).
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours (However, for those wanting the best results from their fillers, we recommend that clients abstain from alcohol for 7 days prior, and 7 days post-treatment)
Avoid active cosmeceutical products (AHAs, retinol, vitamin C) and oil-based makeup for 24 hours.
Use a topical treatment to soothe and calm the skin, such as Bepanthen or Arnica cream. Use this three times/day for the next 7 days.
Avoid facials, waxing, chemical peels, skin needling, microdermabrasion, IPL or laser treatments for 2 weeks after treatment.
Do not massage the treatment area unless instructed to do so.
